MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A special Board of Education meeting will host discussions of school safety, school climate, restorative justice and mental health in Montgomery County Public Schools this Thursday, the agenda says.

Public comment will be allowed, with required sign-ups closing Tuesday at 9 a.m. The meeting is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. Feb. 10, according to the agenda.

School safety has been a recent topic of discussion following a shooting at Magruder High School. Police officers were brought into all high schools for the week following the shooting and Superintendent Monifa McKnight said the district is constantly assessing what the best safety plan is regarding officers in schools. A threat was made against the district last week that police officers determined was non-credible and made by a former student who no longer lives in the United States.
