Montgomery County Work Week Weather Forecast: Storm Brewing

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Hope you were able to enjoy the nice weekend, because after a pretty good Monday, Montgomery County's week-ahead weather forecast is looking relatively gloomy.

For one thing, there's a storm brewing. But the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang reports that the "storm system doesn't look particularly intense. . . (Still), it's a slow-moving one that threatens scattered showers or periods of rain Tuesday into Wednesday."

Thursday is expected to begin wet but improve as the day goes on.

Here's the detailed forecast from the National Weather Service:

Monday Night: A chance of rain after 5am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 48. East wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday: Rain, mainly after 8am. High near 59. East wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Rain. Low around 53. East wind 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Rain before 8am, then showers likely after 8am. High near 66. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. Northwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 48.

Friday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 65. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Friday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
