MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — No schools will be transitioning to virtual learning in Montgomery County this week, the district announced in its community message.

"MCPS will continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 on school operations and, if necessary, identify schools for temporary virtual learning in the future," the note said.

There are four schools still in remote learning from last week — Harmony Hills ES, A. Mario Loiederman MS, Pine Crest ES, Wheaton Woods ES and the autism program at Westover ES. Those schools will return to in-person learning Feb. 10.

For students in kindergarten through fifth grade who are learning virtually, the district has set up Equity Hubs for kids who need a place to learn.

"Virtual learning may pose a challenge for families whose children need a safe place to learn while their parents work; cannot access virtual learning from home or who need a more structured learning environment," the district said in a news release. "The Black and Brown Coalition and The Children's Opportunity Fund have partnered with childcare providers to establish Equity Hubs as a solution."
