ROCKVILLE, MD — A Gaithersburg pedestrian died nearly two weeks after he was hit by a car while crossing a street in Rockville, according to Montgomery County Police.

About 5:24 a.m. on Oct. 30, Luis Rios Chirinos, 28, was hit by a black Lexus GS while he crossed Veirs Mill Road from the median near the intersection with Robindale Drive, a police report said. The driver of the Lexus, who authorities have not identified, remained at the accident scene and is reportedly cooperating with the investigators.

Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue took Chirinos to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. A news release said he died of his injuries on Nov. 11.
