UPDATE: Police Identify Victim in Hit-And-Run in Aspen Hill

Update, 2 p.m., Feb. 25:
Police have identified the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run incident on Norbeck Road early Saturday morning as Alonso Rodriguez, 24, of the 7400 block of Westlake Terrace in Bethesda.
Police believe that a vehicle on Norbeck Road near Westbury Road struck Rodriguez between 2:20 a.m. and 3:24 a.m., when emergency units responded to a call from a motorist, police said in a news release.

The motorist reported that a pedestrian had been struck, attempted to aid Rodriguez and remained on the scene, where emergency units found Rodriguez dead, police said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Rodriguez was socializing with two friends late Friday night into Saturday, the release said. About 2:20 a.m., the vehicle Rodriguez was riding in stopped on Norbeck Road near Westbury Road and Rodriguez got out, police said.

The vehicle, carrying a male driver and female passenger, then continued east on Norbeck Road, the release said.
Further details were not immediately available Saturday afternoon.
Detectives ask anyone who traveled Norbeck Road between Bel Pre Road and Muncaster Mill Road between 2:20 a.m. and 3:25 a.m. Saturday to call the county police department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435. Callers may remain anonymous.

County police are asking for the public’s help in their investigation of a hit-and-run after a man was found dead early Saturday morning on Norbeck Road in the Rockville portion of Aspen Hill.
Police and fire and rescue personnel responded at 3:24 a.m. to a report of a pedestrian struck on Norbeck Road near Westbury Road, police said in a news release.
A passing motorist found the man in the eastbound lanes of Norbeck Road east of Westbury Road, which is between Bel Pre Road and Manor Country Club, the release said. The motorist called for assistance, attempted to aid the man and remained on the scene, police said.
The 24-year-old victim, whose identity will be released after his family is notified, was wearing a black coat and dark blue jeans, police said.
