Report: Finding Room For Green Space in White Flint

Montgomery County planners are proposing making room for green space by moving parking at Wall Local Park and Kennedy Shriver Aquatic Center to a garage next door, The Gazette reports.
A park could add gardens space, walking trails and greenery to White Flint landscape, which is lacking lawns and is heavy on high rises, strip malls and parking lots.

The idea came up during the White Flint Sector Plan process, when staff from the county’s parks and planning departments brought the idea of sharing a parking garage to a developer—Gables Residential is already planning to build apartments with retail and a parking garage, The Gazette reports.
But Gables executives told the newspaper that plans for a park will have to wait until the county puts in a network of new streets around the building site.
