Rockville to Celebrate Community Service Day with Stream Cleanups

Volunteers are needed Oct. 22 at Maryvale and Twinbrook parks.

Be part of Montgomery County's Community Service Day and help keep Rockville streams trash-free with two stream cleanups on Saturday, Oct. 22.

A cleanup will be held at Twinbrook Community Park from 9-11 a.m. City staff will greet volunteers at Twinbrook Community Recreation Center, 12920 Twinbrook Parkway.

The Environment Commission will host a cleanup at Maryvale Park, 812 First St., from 10 a.m.-noon. Environment Commission members will be at the gazebo to greet participants.

Gloves and bags will be provided to participants at both cleanups. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes. Student Service Learning hours are available for student volunteers. Rockville's Adopt-A-Stream program allows groups of volunteers to formally adopt a stream or participate in a one-time cleanup. Public cleanups are scheduled throughout the year, so check the calendar often.
