Temperatures Flirt With 80 Degrees In Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Well folks, it seems like winter is finally coming to an end. Temperatures in the Montgomery County area could flirt with 80 degrees Thursday, finally giving us that spring weather we're probably all craving by now.

Forecasters predict highs should peak in mid 70s, but some areas may reach 80 Thursday. Clouds are expected to break midday and make way for a sunny late afternoon, so get outside and enjoy it while it lasts.

We're not going to completely see the end of cool temperatures, as the mercury is expected to dip over the weekend, thanks to a cold front. But even then temperatures will be in the 50s or so during the day.

Thursday: Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday Night: Showers likely, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Southwest wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday: Showers likely, mainly before 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. Southwest wind 9 to 15 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Friday Night: A chance of showers before 10pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 38. Northwest wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 58. Light and variable wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the morning.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 55.
