These Adorable Animals Need Furever Homes; Adoption Fees Slashed

ROCKVILLE, MD — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at Montgomery County's adoption center. The facility houses dozens of cats, dogs, and other adorable critters. And all of them need a furever home.

During the month of August, the county-run facility is discounting — or in some cases waiving — its adoption fees. It's all part of the annual Clear The Shelters event. Sponsored by NBC, Clear The Shelters helps adoption centers nationwide find permanent and loving homes for homeless animals.

In Montgomery County, adoption fees will be waived for animals that have been in the shelter for at least six weeks. The first 50 animals adopted this month will also have their fees waived, according to officials.

All other animals adoption fees will be discounted by 50 percent through Aug. 30.

Listed below are some of the adorable animals up for adoption:

STARGAZER

Stargazer's adoption fee is half-price.

Stargazer's lolling tongue and huge smile is a permanent feature on her sweet face. She is FULL of life and is looking for a forever human to share her love with. Stargazer has never met a human she doesn't want to be friends with, and greets every day with a wagging tail and a positive attitude. She loves attention and making you laugh with her silly antics as she bounces and fumbles around the yard with little grace.

Stargazer's only moods are "happy" and "happier!" She's 45lbs of love and joy.

Stargazer would love to go home with a human who thinks her big personality is as wonderful as we do. She likes running around and getting lots of exercise, as well as snuggling up for TONS of attention and belly rubs, and is looking for a human who is ready to provide both in abundance!

SWEET GIRL

Sweet Girl's adoption fee is waived.

Sweet Girl is a short, squat girl with a lot of personality! She is known around the shelter for her huge smile and friendly demeanor. She was found as a stray and stayed with a family for a short amount of time before being brought to the shelter to find her forever home. Sweet Girl has shown an interest in interacting with other dogs and could live with the right doggy companion!

Sweet Girl is currently living in a foster home and is doing very well in a home environment.

CALI

Cali's adoption fee is half-price.

Cali is a silly tabby who loves to play peek-a-boo and wants to make friend wherever she goes. She loves attention and would be happy getting pets and scratches all day long. She can never get enough of you! Cali is laid back and easy going. She would make a wonderful lap cat for her new human!

Cali's perfect adopter would be somebody looking for a low-maintenance companion. As long as you're ready to give her attention every day and share your couch, Cali would be happy to be yours!

KUZCO

If you are looking for a brave, outgoing cat to adventure through the house, enthusiastically greet you and chirp for attention, then I'm your guy! I'm handsome and charming and am ready to be the prince of your household! I just can't get enough pets and love it when you talk to me. Looking for a snuggle buddy? Me! Me! That's me!! The humans here say that I'm like a golden retriever in a cat's body. I have no idea what that means, but I bet it's a good thing!

"I'm FIV+ but it doesn't get me down! Ask an adoption counselor about how to safely integrate me into a home with other cats (though I am also perfectly happy to be your one and only bff)."

PANDA AND SNOWFLAKE

Panda and Snowflake's adoption fees are half-price.

Panda and Snowflake are very social, friendly rats who love being held, exploring new places, and playing. They are very easy to handle and can't wait to get out of their cage to meet you when you visit their enclosure! They'll perch on your shoulder quietly or crawl down into the hood of your sweatshirt to curl up for a nap.

Panda and Snowflake love each-other's company and would be happy to find a forever home together!
