UPDATE: Tornado Warning for Upcounty; Severe Storms Forecast for Metro Region
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning until 3:40 p.m.

A tornado warning for northern Montgomery County has been extended until 3:40 p.m. At 3:10 p.m. radar indicated that the immediately impacted area was near Sykesville in Carroll County, the National Weather Service reported.

A tornado warning is in effect for Montgomery County until 3 p.m.
At 2:30 p.m., weather radar on CNN showed storms with rotation tracking north to northeast from Poolesville to Gaithersburg.

An Emergency Alert System message said radar picked up a severe thunderstorm capable of producing tornadoes in Damascus moving north at 25 mph.
