12 Injured In Crash Involving MD School Bus

The collision between the bus and a car happened just after 7:15 a.m. in Silver Spring, authorities said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Ten children and two adults were injured Tuesday in a crash involving a Montgomery County Public Schools bus, authorities said.

According to a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson, the collision between the bus and a car happened just after 7:15 a.m. at the intersection of Norwood Road and New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring.

Authorities said the students and adults were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

At 8:40 a.m., officials said the fire department had left the scene and Montgomery County Public Schools were contacting the families of the involved students.

Authorities did not provide details on how or why the crash occurred.

In a statement sent to Bethesda Today, MCPS spokesperson Liliana López said the bus was on its way to James Hubert Blake High School, located at 300 Norwood Rd. in Silver Spring. The crash site was just over a mile from the school.
