2 Men, 3 Teens Arrested After Leading MoCo Police On Chase With Stolen Car

Authorities also seized three guns following the chase in Silver Spring.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Two adults and three teenagers are facing charges after Montgomery County authorities said they led police on a stolen car chase that also resulted in the recovery of three handguns.

On June 27, just after 4:20 p.m., police said officers were traveling in the area of Old Columbia Pike and Tech Road when they located a stolen silver Hyundai Elantra. Officers attempted to stop the Hyundai, but it continued traveling north on Columbia Pike.

According to police, the Hyundai made a right turn onto Fairland Road, struck the median and came to a stop at the intersection of Copland Court and Fairland Road, where all five suspects exited the car and ran away.

Officers chased after the suspects and apprehended them in nearby neighborhoods, police said.

In a nearby wooded area, officers found a bag belonging to one of the 16-year-old suspects. Inside the bag, police said officers recovered a loaded handgun. According to authorities, one of the 16-year-olds also had two loaded handguns. One had been reported stolen, and the other had its serial number removed.

The two adult male suspects were identified as 18-year-old Nyveek Ross of Silver Spring and 19-year-old Kamonte Frazier of Columbia.

Ross, Frazier and the two 16-year-olds were arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. Ross and Frazier were charged with obstructing and hindering, disorderly conduct and vehicle theft-related charges. Ross was released on a $500 unsecured personal bond and Frazier on a $5,000 unsecured personal bond.

The two 16-year-olds were charged as adults with obstructing and hindering, disorderly conduct, vehicle theft, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and related charges. Police did not release their names.

The 13-year-old was also charged with vehicle theft. His case was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services, and he was released to the custody of his guardians.
