2 Silver Spring Students Honored For MD History Documentary
Two Eastern High School students were honored for the documentary they made as part of the 2022 Maryland History Day competition.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A documentary filmed by two Silver Spring students was selected at the 2022 National History Day competition to be screened at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, according to a release.
Eastern Middle School students Grant Burthey and Dermott Foley were among the 20 middle and high school students honored by state senators and delegates at the Maryland State House in Annapolis on Feb. 27.
Michael Muscavage and Devin Page, who are teachers at Arundel High School in Anne Arundel County and Northern Middle School in Calvert County, respectively, were also honored as Maryland History Day High and Middle School Teachers of the Year.

More than 25,000 middle and high school students participate in the year-long Maryland History Day educational program, which culminates in a statewide competition.
The 2023 International History Day competition will take place June 11-15, bringing students from across the globe to the University of Maryland, College Park.
