Good morning, Silver Spring! Here are five things to know this Monday to help you keep up-to-date about what’s going on in the community:

1. Expect freezing rain in the early morning, with temperatures in the mid 40s, according to the National Weather Service. Later on tonight, patchy fog and showers are expected, with temperatures in the low 40s.

2. A freezing rain advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. The National Weather Service advises drivers to be cautious.

3. If you missed it, keep a tab on crime in your neighborhood with the police blotter.

4. Silver Spring families were displaced after a basement fire Sunday evening. No one was injured.

5. Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board committees meet today. The  Commercial & Economic Development including the Pedestrian Safety & Transportation will hold their meetings jointly. They will discuss the effects of the Purple Line on rentals and businesses. The Long Branch area will be a main area of focus.

The Neighborhood Committee will discuss how at-risk youth are overcoming poverty.
