Happy Thursday, Silver Spring! Here are five things to know today, to help you keep up-to-date about what’s going on in the community:

1. Expect sunny skies with temperatures reaching a high near 69 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Later into the evening, the temperatures are expected to drop to around 47 degrees.

3. In recognition of National Depression Screening Day, Warner Memorial Presbyterian Church and Pastoral Counseling and Care Ministries are teaming up to offer free depression screenings. You can visit the church anytime on Thursday between noon to 8 p.m. at Warner Memorial, 10123 Connecticut Ave. in Kensington.

4. Take the kids to cartoon and storytelling at Create Arts Center. In this eight-week class your child will learn the basic tools for creating their very own cartoon characters and comic book. Students will start with learning basic line and shape and then move on to character development.
