Happy Thursday, Silver Spring! Here are five things you need to know as you start your day.

Good morning! What five things do you need to know to stay up-to-date about what’s going on in the community? Patch has you covered this Thursday:
1. There's a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. A high of 77 degrees is expected today. Showers are expected to continue into the evening with a low around 57 degrees.
2. Join Good Shepherd's Boy Scout Troop and Venture Crew for a Spaghetti Dinner. The menu meatballs, garlic bread, salad and dressing, lemonade to drink and ice cream for dessert. All proceeds will help pay for Troop and Crew 97's activities and service projects. Price will be $7 for adults and $3 for kids under 12.
3. Get ready for Jazz on the Plaza! Performances have included Groove Jet, Cloud 9, the 2nd Story Band, Snakehead Run, Warner Williams & Joyce Ettingoff, and the Greater U Street Jazz Collective.
4. If it rains, than you can join local artist Chris Shoberg at McGinty's Public House. The Irish pub brings together music, sports, fine dining, and entertainment over two floors.
5. After 32 years of serving as a firefighter, Pam Foltz is set to hang up her gear for good on Wednesday. Montgomery County Chief Bowers announced her retirement and shared Foltz's accomplishments on his blog.
