Arrest Made In Fatal 13th Street Silver Spring Shooting

A Washington, D.C., man died from gunshot wounds in a Silver Spring alley Sept. 2, and an arrest was made Montgomery County Police said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring was arrested Friday in the fatal shooting of a Washington, D.C., man on Labor Day in an alley, according to Montgomery County Police.

Jeriel Demitri Martin, 33, is charged with the homicide of 34-year-old Jamar Emmanuel Jenifer, of Washington D.C. Police said Martin shot and killed Jenifer in the 8000 block of 13th Street in Silver Spring on Sept. 2.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant against Martin, charging him with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony/violent crime.

On Sept. 6, a search and seizure warrant was executed at Martin’s residence, where evidence connecting him to Jenifer’s homicide were found, police said in a news release.

Martin is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit without bond.
