Bank Robber Arrested, Suspected In 2 Virginia Hold-Ups: Police
Police arrested a Silver Spring man they say robbed an Edgewater bank Friday, and authorities believe he also robbed two banks in Virginia.

EDGEWATER, MD — Anne Arundel County Police have arrested a Silver Spring man they say robbed an Edgewater bank on Friday, and authorities believe he also robbed banks in two Virginia counties. The Edgewater robbery was reported just after 1:30 p.m. at the Sandy Spring Bank, 116 Mitchell Chance Road.
Bank employees reported that a man wearing sunglasses entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money. The employee turned over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the robber fled from the bank. Several officers, including a canine unit, searched the area, but did not find the robber.
While investigating the holdup and speaking with police from surrounding jurisdictions, detectives determined that the Edgewater robber likely held up a bank in Manassas, Virginia, on Sept. 14, and a bank in Prince William County, Virginia, on Sept. 16.

Anne Arundel County detectives located Jack Antonio Romero, 30, of the 2300 block of Coleridge Drive in Silver Spring, near his home on Wednesday. Detectives from Virginia also filed charges against Romero for the bank robberies that occurred in their jurisdictions.
Romero is charged with armed robbery, robbery, second-degree assault and theft in the Edgewater case.
