Coronavirus Cases Rise To 15,568 In Montgomery County
Montgomery County's case count climbed by 65 on Friday, while its death toll grew by one.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Confirmed coronavirus cases in Montgomery County climbed by 65 on Friday, while the fatality count grew by one.
The latest data released by the Maryland Department of Health pushes the county's case total to 15,568 and the death toll to 717.
Another 38, health officials said, likely died from COVID-19, but were never tested. They are considered "probable deaths" until a lab test can provide confirmation.

The county — which is home to roughly 1.1 million residents — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 19,510, according to the latest figures.
On Thursday, Montgomery County became the 12th jurisdiction in Maryland to meet the statewide goal of testing 10 percent of its population. That translates to at least 110,000 tests, according to county officials.

Across Maryland, there have been 71,910 cases, 3,172 confirmed deaths, and 131 "probable deaths."
Of the 385 people currently hospitalized with the virus, 122 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
