COVID-19 Cases In Montgomery Hit 22,512; Death Toll Reaches 808
Montgomery County recorded 22,512 novel coronavirus cases and 808 deaths since the pandemic hit the region in March.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County added 91 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of infected residents to 22,512.
Meanwhile, one more person has died from COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, pushing the local death toll to 808. The latest fatality count does not include the 40 others whose deaths were linked to the virus, but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."
The county — which is home to roughly 1.1 million residents — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 29,416, according to the latest figures.

Statewide, there have been 124,311 cases, 3,802 confirmed deaths, and 144 "probable deaths." Of the 344 people currently being hospitalized, 79 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
