DC Man Dies In 13th Street Silver Spring Shooting

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Washington, D.C., man who died from gunshot wounds in a Silver Spring alley on Labor Day was identified by authorities Tuesday.

Shortly before 10 a.m. officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 8000 block of 13th Street for a report that a person was hurt. Authorities found Jamar Emmanuel Jenifer, 34, of Washington, D.C., in an alley suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Despite lifesaving efforts, Jenifer was pronounced dead at the scene, a Montgomery County Police Department news release said.

Jenifer was found about a block from the county line with Washington, D.C., MoCo 360 reported. Detectives are investigating the death as a homicide.

Police said Tuesday that there is no suspect in custody.
