Fee Waived For All MOCO Animal Adoptions At ‘Home For The Holidays'

DERWOOD, MD — The “Home for the Holidays” free animal adoption event will be held at Mongtomery County's shelter Dec. 14 and 15. All fees will be waived for pets Saturday and Sunday in an effort to clear the shelter for the holidays.

The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center is located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Road in Derwood.

Residents interested in adopting a pet are asked to schedule an appointment to reduce wait times. Walk-ins are subject to counselor availability.

“We’ve seen an uptick in our animal population, and we hope this event will help us clear the shelters. We have so many wonderful pets and each of them deserves a warm, cozy home in time for the holidays,” said Maria Anselmo, community relations manager for MSASAC.

The center recommends that adopters check the website frequently for available pets to ensure the animal they are interested in is available for adoption.

Adopters should be prepared to take an animal home at the end of their appointment by bringing a leash and collar for dogs and a carrier for cats or small animals. No holds will be placed in the interest of finding as many homes as possible for pets.

• Tuesday: noon-7 p.m.
• Wednesday: noon-5 p.m.
• Thursday: noon-7 p.m.
• Friday: noon-7 p.m.
• Saturday: noon-5 p.m.
• Sunday: noon-5 p.m.
