Firefighter Hurt As Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes Into Accident Site
A suspected impaired driver crashed into two Maryland State Police vehicles and struck a Montgomery County firefighter Friday morning.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A suspected drunken driver crashed into two Maryland State Police vehicles and struck a Montgomery County firefighter at the scene of a previous accident early Friday.
Troopers from the Rockville Barrack had responded to a crash on the Inner Loop of Interstate 495 near University Boulevard involving a Lexus sedan and a tractor-trailer about 2:40 a.m. Several lanes were closed at the accident site, blocked off by traffic cones, flares and two marked patrol vehicles with emergency lights activated, state police said.
A BMW sedan drove through the lane closure about 3 a.m., striking the two unoccupied patrol vehicles and a firefighter, identified as Michael Doyle, 54. He was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital for treatment.

Officers arrested the BMW driver, Alberto Zurita, 45, for suspected DUI, a state police news release said. Authorities did not release a hometown for Zurita.
No other injuries were reported.
