Head over to the Highwood Theatre at 8 p.m. for a night of laughs and comedy. Features a new lineup of professional improv performers every week. Located at 914 Silver Spring Ave.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the 28th annual festival featuring more than 40 films from Latin America. Mingle with guest filmmakers, chow down on Latin food and celebrate with the embassies. Located at AFI Silver Theatre & Cultural Center at 8633 Colesville Rd.
"It's Asia's Birthday and We're Partying with a Purpose" is being held 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday at the Silver Spring Civic Center at One Veterans Place. Guests can enjoy the hottest DJs, celebrity guests, special live performances, free food and more. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Lupus Foundation and Dream Chasers Charity.
4. Free 15th Anniversary Screening Documentary "Silver Spring: Story of an American Suburb"
This documentary explores the history of Silver Spring, through the growth during the New Deal, its heyday as a booming retail center in the 1940s and '50s, according to the release. No tickets required. Located at AFI Silver Theatre & Cultural Center at 8633 Colesville Rd.
5. KIDFest
KIDFest will feature toy making, robots, 3D printing, Rube Goldberg machines, giant ball runs and more. Held at Veteran’s Plaza and the Silver Spring Civic Building in Silver Spring, from 12-5 p.m. Sunday.
