SILVER SPRING, MD — "Just for the Record: A Vinyl Day" returns to Silver Spring on Saturday, April 27.
Presented by Montgomery County Public Libraries, the free, kid-friendly event celebrates music on vinyl, as well as its culture, art, and sound.
"Vinyl has made a major comeback among young people while still holding on to a mature base of listeners," said Ari Z. Brooks, executive director of the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, Inc. "This is the perfect event to bring both populations to the library around the common theme of music."

From noon to 4 p.m., music fans can participate in a panel discussion on creating and collecting vinyl records, enjoy a turntable experience, watch a preview for a documentary about Bethesda-based radio station WHFS, and come to a book signing with local author and former WHFS deejay Cerphe Colwell.
And, for the first time, the public library system will host a music competition, where several musical acts from around the county will perform in front of a panel of celebrity community judges.
