Make a Difference This Summer. Join the American Red Cross!
Red Cross needs blood donors and volunteers to help maintain blood supply during summer months.

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. That need – lifesaving treatment for accident victims, new mothers, surgery and cancer patients and others – doesn’t take a break in the summer, even though fewer people usually donate blood because of travel and school vacations.
The Red Cross of the National Capital and Greater Chesapeake region must collect an average of more than 370 pints of blood every day to ensure that about 50 hospitals in the DMV area receive the blood and blood products they need to treat patients.
YOU can help the Red Cross save lives this summer by donating blood. Blood drives will be held in Montgomery County throughout the summer – enter your ZIP code at RedCrossBlood.org to find one that fits your schedule. Also, the Red Cross blood donor center in Rockville (11820
Parklawn Drive, Ste 510) is open every day. Blood donation typically takes one hour, start to finish, and each donation helps save more than one life. Find out more at RedCrossBlood.org

You can also help meet the continued need for blood in your community by volunteering with the Red Cross. Help is particularly needed with two roles:
- Blood donor ambassadors are needed to greet, register and support blood donors at local blood drives and donor centers. The Red Cross is looking for friendly and caring individuals who can commit to at least one five-hour shift per month. The minimum age to volunteer is 16. Get started at redcross.org/volunteer.
- Volunteer drivers are needed to transport and deliver blood products from Baltimore to area hospitals and patients in need. Volunteers must have a valid driver's license and are able to commit to two five-hour shifts per month. Find out more and apply at redcross.org/deliver
More than 1,600 talented, dedicated and compassionate people volunteer with the Red Cross in Montgomery County and the surrounding area. Join them in this lifesaving – and life changing – work and help make a difference in your local community. Find out more at RedCross.org/NCGC.
