Man Arrested, Charged In Triple Stabbing In Montgomery County

The 30-year-old man was arrested in Virginia and charged with three counts of first-degree assault, police said.

DERWOOD, MD — Authorities have arrested and charged a man in connection with a recent triple stabbing in Montgomery County.

Octavio Antonio Estevez, 30, was arrested in Virginia on Thursday and charged with three counts of first-degree assault, Montgomery County police said in a statement.

According to police, Estevez was wanted in connection with an incident that occurred on Nov. 3 in the 10 block of Indian Hills Court in Derwood. Police were called to the location around 9:20 a.m. after receiving a call about a suspicious situation.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Estevez was inside his residence when he attacked and stabbed his mother, police said. He then stabbed his grandmother when she attempted to stop him from hurting his mother, according to authorities.

Hearing the commotion inside the residence, police said a good Samaritan attempted to intervene and was also stabbed. Estevez then fled the scene, police said.

All three victims were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Estevez was located by the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office and taken into custody. He remains in custody in Virginia, where he is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
