Man Dies In Backyard Fire In Silver Spring, Officials Say

SILVER SPRING, MD — A man was found dead in his backyard after a fire broke out at his Silver Spring home Thursday night, officials said.

The fire occurred at about 8 p.m. at a home in the 1200 block of Briggs Chaney Rd., Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said.

Police said the man was doing a controlled burn in his backyard when he caught on fire.

The victim is believed to be an elderly man who lived in the home, officials said.
