Missing MD Woman Dies After She's Struck By Car
The Silver Spring woman, who was reported missing on Sunday, died hours later when she was hit by a car in Prince George's County.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring woman who was reported missing on Sunday died hours later when she was hit by a car in Prince George's County, according to state police.
Asenakech Amdrufael Negewo, 77, was last seen around 5:30 p.m. near the 13700 block of Avonshire Drive in Silver Spring, Montgomery County police said.
Shortly before 9:20 p.m., Maryland State Police responded to the area of eastbound Route 198 near the ramp from northbound Interstate 95 after receiving reports of a pedestrian-involved crash.

According to police, a Honda Civic driven by a 44-year-old man was traveling on the I-95 exit ramp onto eastbound MD-198 when it struck Negewo, who was standing in the roadway.
Negewo was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Personnel from the Laurel Police Department assisted with traffic control and road closures, which lasted more than two hours.
