Nearly 4,000 COVID-19 Kits To Be Distributed In Montgomery County

Public health officials will hand out nearly 4,000 COVID-19 kits to residents in some of the hardest-hit areas of Montgomery County.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Nearly 4,000 COVID-19 kits — packed with personal protective equipment, hand sanitizers, and other useful items — will be passed out in some sections of Montgomery County hardest hit by the virus.

The zip codes most affected by COVID-19 are in the Silver Spring area: 20902 (2,696 cases), 20904 (2,496 cases), and 20906 (3,612 cases). They account for nearly 26 percent of COVID-19 infections in the county, according to public health data released Thursday.

The kits include hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes, gloves, tissues, masks, non-contact infrared thermometers, and batteries.

The kits will be distributed at the following food distribution sites:

  • Hughes United Methodist (10700 Georgia Ave. in Wheaton), Tuesday, Dec. 8, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • Oak Chapel United Methodist Church (14500 Layhill Rd. in Silver Spring), Thursday, Dec. 10, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • East County HUB at East County Community Recreation Center (3310 Gateshead Manor Way in Silver Spring), Saturday, Dec. 12, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
