Officer Injured While Stopping Person From Jumping Off Parking Garage: Police

The person in distress was also injured, and both were taken to a hospital, police said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — An officer was taken to a hospital after responding Sunday morning to a person threatening to jump off a parking garage in downtown Silver Spring, according to police, who said the distressed person was injured as well.

Officers responded around 9:30 a.m. to the area of Wayne and Georgia avenues for a report of a person in distress, Montgomery County police said, adding an officer was able to stop the person from leaping off the high-level garage, but both were injured.

The officer and the person in distress both suffered head injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police.
