UPDATED: Second Alarm Called on Silver Spring House Fire
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue are on scene at a house fire in the 2030 block of Lyttonsville Road.

Updated (Jan. 22 at 10:25 p.m.): No one was injured but three townhomes will remain unoccupied following a fire in the 2030 block of Lyttonsville Road in Silver Spring, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Scott Graham said.
The fire started in the basement of 2037 Lyttonsville Road, a three-story town house, Graham said.
Bordering homes No. 2035 and 2039 were damaged and the occupants of all three are working with the Red Cross to find shelter, Graham said.

MCFR arrived on scene shortly after 7:30 p.m. and had the fire under control in approximately one hour and ten minutes, Graham said, adding that structural instability caused by the fire made it difficult to fight from the interior.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Original Post (Sunday, Jan. 22 at 8:35 p.m.): A second alarm has been called for a house fire in the 2030 block of Lyttonsville Road in Silver Spring, said Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Scott Graham.
The townhouse fire appears to have started in the basement area and spread to multiple floors, Graham said, adding that firefighters are acting in a defensive mode.
Firefighters are stationed in the townhouses on both sides of the fire making sure it doesn't advance, Graham said.
