Silver Spring College Students Honored For Academic Excellence

SILVER SPRING, MD — To shine a light on the accomplished of college students from Silver Spring, Patch shares information provided by the students' families and Merit News.
Lily Ciel Behnam of Silver Spring was among the 4,174 students named to the fall 2022 president's list at Mississippi State University in Mississippi. Students on the president's list achieved a 3.80 or better grade-point average, based on a 4.0 scale, while completing at least 12 semester hours of course work with no incomplete grades or grades lower than a C.
Ivy Magdalene Brooks of Silver Spring is one of 339 Mars Hill University students who were named to the honor roll of the academic dean at the end of the fall 2022 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 on a minimum of 12 semester hours, and carry no grade below a C.

Jake Howse of Silver Spring, who is pursing a a bachelor's of science in exercise science, was one of more than 1,870 students named to the fall 2022 dean's list at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. To qualify for dean's list, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher (based on 4.0) during the semester.
The following students were named to the fall 2022 dean's list for their outstanding academic achievement at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York:

- Joanna Dugroo of Silver Spring, whose major is music business
- Christian Harris of Silver Spring, whose major is mass media studies
- Raviv Levone of Silver Spring, whose major is psychology
- Kirsten Wheeler of Silver Spring, whose major is drama
Hofstra students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 during the semester to make the dean's list.
Alina Wright, an analytical economics major from Silver Spring, was named to the dean's list earning honors for the fall 2022 semester at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire. Full-time students named to the dean's list with honors earned a grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 on a 4.0 scale.
Silver Spring resident Julia Flick was named to the president's list for the fall 2022 semester at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Students who earn president's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.900 or above. Flick is an art student pursuing a bachelor's in fine arts degree.
Annette E. Johnson, a junior occupational therapy major from Silver Spring, was among more than 1,600 students named to dean's list for the 2022 fall semester at The University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania. To be named to the dean's list, a student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours during the semester.
Myra Mayn, a member of the class of 2025 from Silver Spring, was named to the fall 2022 dean's list at the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. To qualify, students must pass four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades during the semester and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Erin Freeman of Silver Spring was named to the 2022-23 fall semester dean's list at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Freeman is earning a bachelor of arts in strategic communication, entrepreneurship. To be named to the dean's list, a student must be ranked in the top 20 percent of undergraduate students in their division for the semester.
The following students were among the 2,069 undergraduate students who achieved the criteria required for Worcester Polytechnic Institute's fall 2022 dean's list:
- Luke Sanneman of Silver Spring is majoring in Aerospace Engineering (BS) as a member of the class of 2025.
- Kaitlyn Wannall of Silver Spring is majoring in biology and biotechnology (BS) as a member of the class of 2026.
WPI defines the dean's list by the amount of work a student completes at the A level in courses and projects.
