Silver Spring College Students Recognized As Fall Term Begins

Patch highlights the honors received by Silver Spring students from their college or university.

SILVER SPRING, MD — To shine a light on the academic achievements of college students from the Silver Spring area, Patch shares information provided by the students' families and Merit News.

Isabel Fenton of Silver Spring graduated cum laude after majoring in politics and minoring in rhetoric, film, and screen studies at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Fenton, the daughter of Debra A. Liang-Fenton, is a 2018 graduate of Montgomery Blair High School.

James Madison University welcomed the following students from the class of 2026 its Harrisonburg, Virginia campus this month:

  • Julia Flick of Silver Spring whose selected major is art.
  • Adah Obat of Silver Spring whose selected major is kinesiology.
  • Kadidia Toure of Silver Spring whose selected major is economics.
  • Bridget Trebon of Silver Spring whose selected major is theatre.

Albright College students competing as members of the Lions' NCAA Division III varsity athletic teams this fall include:

  • Fornah John of Silver Spring is a member of the NCAA Division III Football team at Albright College this fall. A graduate of Albert Einstein Senior High School, Fornah is a sophomore business administration: sport management major at Albright.
  • Herrera Mario of Silver Spring is a member of the NCAA Division III Football team at Albright College this fall. A graduate of Springbrook High School, Herrera is a sophomore biochemistry major at Albright.

Sai Sowmya Kuppa of Silver Spring completing their master of science in information technology this August at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

Josh Agu of Silver Spring graduated last summer, earning a bachelor of arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. Agu was a health and human kinetics (general) and psychology major.

Fanny Iglesias of Silver Spring was named to the summer 2022 dean's list at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, New Hampshire. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the dean's list. The summer terms run from May to August.

Gayle Thrift of Silver Spring was named to the summer 2022 president's list at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, New Hampshire. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the president's list.

Alexis Blick of Silver Spring graduated with a master of business administration from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. The Blick received one of the 574 degrees awarded to students in summer 2022.

Michael Thomas of Silver Spring has been named a Peer Writing Tutor at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania. A graduate of Richard Montgomery High School, Thomas is majoring in communications and psychology at Albright. Recommended by faculty members, tutors work to be certified by the College Reading and Learning Association's International Tutor Training Program and must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Eyoha Henoke of Silver Spring began their journey as an Eagle this fall at Biola University in La Mirada, California. Henoke is pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science.
