Silver Spring Fugitive Wanted For Shooting Captured In NJ
Luel F. Mekonnen, 22, of Silver Spring has been charged as a fugitive and is awaiting extradition, police said.
SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring man wanted for a recent fatal shooting in Baltimore County has been captured in New Jersey, police said.
Luel F. Mekonnen, 22, has been charged as a fugitive and is awaiting extradition. He was arrested Friday by the Baltimore County Police Department and U.S. Marshals.
Around 5 a.m.Thursday, Baltimore County officers responded to a local hospital for reports of a man who was brought there for a gunshot injury.

Once on scene, officers said they determined the victim was shot in the 1300 block of Colbury Rd. and later taken to a local hospital.
Police said the victim is in stable condition.

This case remains under investigation by detectives with the Baltimore County Violent Crimes Unit.
