Silver Spring Green Wants Your Vision for the Future
The organization's leaders wants the community's input on building a sustainably green neighborhood.
A business looking to help Silver Spring become a bit more environmentally-friendly is looking for ideas from residents and community leaders.
, incorporated in May of 2011, invited elected officials and community leaders to discuss their vision for a sustainable neighborhood.
During the recent meeting, held inside of the Discovery Communications building, about 30 attendees outlined ways to build a green community while improving Silver Spring residents’ quality of life by 2015.

These were some of the main ideas discussed:
- A Silver Spring Green annual directory that would be accessible to residents and green business networking.
- Help business/residents make better choices through education.
- Environmentally friendly dark-sky lighting.
- Burial of power and phone lines.
- Find ways to encourage the community to walk more.
- Bike share program.
