Silver Spring Men Arrested On Drug, Gun Charges In Hotel Room

Two Silver Spring men were arrested on drug and gun charges at a hotel in Takoma Park, police said.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — Two Silver Spring men were arrested on drug and gun charges at a hotel in Takoma Park, police said.

Robert Holder, 21; Shakiel Wray, 22, and a 16-year-old male were arrested on Feb. 9.

Police were patrolling the area of the 7400 block of New Hampshire Ave. in Takoma Park when they observed what they suspected to be a narcotics transaction, police said. The 16-year-old juvenile was suspected of selling narcotics to a buyer, police said. The juvenile went into a hotel, while police pulled the buyer over and recovered marijuana from the vehicle.

"At the hotel, three more individuals were seen entering the room where the 'seller' had previously entered. Two of those entering were 16 and 17 year old female juveniles and an adult male," police said in a statement. "Detectives made contact with the persons inside the hotel room and upon the door being opened, detectives observed Marijuana in plain view throughout the room."

Police recovered a pound of marijuana and a loaded handgun in the hotel room.

Holder was charged with possession with the intent to distribute controlled dangerous substance (CDS) Marijuana; distribution of CDS Marijuana, and other related CDS charges. Wray was charged with wearing, carrying and transporting a handgun, with other related firearms charges.

The 16 year old male juvenile was charged with distribution of CDS Marijuana and released to the custody of a parent, police said. A 25 year old male was issued a civil citation for possession of CDS Marijuana and released. The two 16 and 17 year old female juveniles were not charged and released to the custody of their parents.
