SILVER SPRING, MD — Not only is the Silver Spring Stage's current production of "Circle Mirror Transformation" by Annie Baker the company's first full in-person show since the COVID-19 pandemic, it's also the Washington, D.C. area's first community theatre production of the award-winning play.

"Circle Mirror Transformation" tells the story of a group of adult drama class performers at a small-town Vermont community center forming increasingly intense connections via the artificial intimacy of their theater exercises, according to a release. The results are both heartbreaking and humorous.

“The show is ideal for the Stage because it is a simple, intimate, easy-to-stage but artistically interesting piece by an acclaimed contemporary playwright,” said director Rob Gorman, in a release. “This is a beautiful, deceptively simple piece about community, the role of the arts, and forming human connections.”
