Silver Spring Teen Captured At Dulles, Charged In Double Homicide

A 15-year-old from Silver Spring has been charged as an adult with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with a double homicide.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A 15-year-old Silver Spring teen has been charged as an adult with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with a double homicide that occurred Memorial Day weekend, authorities said.

Onyx Santana Austin was arrested on Aug. 26 at Dulles International Airport in Virginia. He was identified by detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department of Police as a suspect in the May 26 shooting deaths of D’Andre Wint and Quincy Johnson, both 20 years old, in Nolte Local Park.

Detectives requested a warrant for Austin's arrest on Aug. 26. He left the country after the shootings and was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection when he returned to the United States.

Authorities did not say which country Austin went to after the shootings.

He is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
