SILVER SPRING, MD — A sixth suspect has been arrested in connection with the May 26 homicide of a 29-year-old man in Silver Spring, authorities said.

Jose Luis Lainez-Martinez, 26, of Adelphi, was charged with the first-degree murder of Francisco Anton Medrano Campos.

Around 7 a.m. on May 26, Montgomery County police found Medrano Campos suffering from gunshot wounds near his home, in the 2300 block of Glenmont Circle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

To date, police have arrested six suspects. Of those, five were apprehended in early June.

  • Romeo Almengor Oxlaj-Lopez, 20
  • Carlos Andres Orellana, 21
  • Daniel E. Huezo Landaverde, 19
  • Oscar Effrain Zavala-Urrea, 19

All six suspects are being held without bond. They are scheduled to appear in court in August.
