Track Coach Accused Of Assaulting Silver Spring Student: Police
Giovanni Di Angelo Reumante, a Northwood High School track coach, was arrested at Dulles International Airport on a sexual assault charge.
SILVER SPRING, MD — A Northwood High School track coach and security assistant was arrested on Dec. 29 and charged with sexually assaulting a child, after one of his former athletes said he assaulted her when she was a student.
Montgomery County Police say that Giovanni Di Angelo Reumante, 31, has been a coach at the school since 2013. Authorities say he engaged in sexual contact with at least one student, who is now an adult, during and after school.
Northwood High Principal Jonathan Garrick said Reumante, a Takoma Park resident, is on leave from the school, according to WJLA.

"Mr. Reumante was immediately placed on administrative leave and is not allowed in our school or on our grounds," Garrick said in a letter, according to WJLA. "The allegations against Mr. Reumante are troubling, reprehensible, and are contrary to the principles and values of MCPS and our community."
MCP had an arrest warrant for Reumante on Dec. 23, but he was in the Dominican Republic. He was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at Dulles International Airport when he returned to the United States on Dec. 29.
