SILVER SPRING, MD — A Red Line train derailed outside the Silver Spring Metro station on Tuesday morning, according to officials.

"It appears as though a couple of cars slipped off the track at the platform," said Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer.

No serious injuries have been reported, he added.

Train service has been suspended between the Takoma and Wheaton stations, according to WMATA.
