Victim Found Dead Inside RV, Silver Spring Man Charged: Police

A Silver Spring man was arrested for the murder of a 63-year-old man who was found dead inside an RV in Burtonsville.

BURTONSVILLE, MD — A Silver Spring man was arrested for the murder of a 63-year-old man who was found dead inside an RV in Burtonsville, police said. The suspect, Lloyd Patrick Walters, 51, went to the police station after the incident.

Walters showed up at the MCPD 3rd District Police Station, located at 1002 Milestone Dr. in Silver Spring, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen at about 9 p.m. Sept. 6. Police said Walters told them he shot a man in a trailer and provided officers with a description of the area where the trailer was located.

Officers immediately responded to the area where Walters said the shooting had occurred and located a recreational vehicle (RV) parked on the property of a home in the 14000 block of Old Columbia Pike. Arriving officers found a deceased male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the vehicle. The decedent was identified as Todd Mcdonough Pruitt, 63.

Pruitt's body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy was performed. The Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide and the cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives have determined that the encounter between Walters and the victim was not a random event. Walters was charged with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime. He is being held without bond, police said.
