Bill Introduced To Significantly Increase MA Teachers' Salaries
Teachers and education professionals across the Commonwealth could see a significant increase in their salaries should this bill pass.

MASSACHUSETTS - The Massachusetts Teacher Association is backing a new bill that would require a minimum salary of $70,000 for teachers in the Commonwealth.
The "Act Relative To Educator Pay" bill was petitioned by Erika Uyterhoeven (D-Middlesex), and it would also guarantee a minimum of $55,000 salaries for "education support professionals." This includes cafeteria workers, bus drivers, classroom assistants and janitorial staff. The state would also reimburse costs incurred from higher salaries.
The bill also calls for a following salary increase in 2030. The minimum requirement would increase to $80,000 for teachers and $65,000 for support staff. The National Education Association estimates that the average salary for teachers in Massachusetts is around $51,000. The minimum living wage in the Commonwealth is $75,405.
