MA Gas Prices Hit Record High of $4.39, Beating National Average
Massachusetts drivers are paying more at the pump today, with the average price of gas up 18 cents from last week.
MASSACHUSETTS — The average price of gas in Massachusetts has skyrocketed 18 cents from last week to a record-high $4.39 per gallon, according to AAA Northeast.
Filling up a tank of gas now costs US drivers about $23 more than it did a year ago, a AAA spokesperson said last week. The national average price of gas now sits at $4.32, just a penny under the record set March 11 and 7 cents below Massachusetts' average.
Gas prices across the country have been climbing steadily since January, due primarily to the high cost of crude oil, which is nearing $110 a barrel.
