A week that's starting off with temperatures in the 60s could end up seeing the state's first widespread snowfall of the year.

"We try to be sensitive to some who dread the possibility of Boston's first measurable snow this season," the National Weather Service tweeted Sunday. "But for snow lovers, like us, hope is on the way latter [sic] this week."

Monday kicked off with rain and a mild feel to it thanks to a warm front, but it'll soon give way to a cold front and powerful wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour. The rain will return and last throughout Monday evening.

The weather might even be worse on your TV Monday night when the Patriots take on the Bills in Buffalo for first place in the AFC East. Temperatures will be in the mid-30s, but wind gusts could be whipping as high as 45 m.p.h. — the wind chills will make it by far the coldest game of the season for New England. Factor in possible snow, and conditions are expected to have a significant impact on the game.

Tuesday is expected to be more seasonal, but forecasters are eying Wednesday as a potential snow event. There stands about a 50 percent chance of precipitation, but temperatures will be straddling the freezing point much of the day.
