MA Weather: Snow Surprise Amid Mild Highs

Forecasts say a couple inches of snow will sneak in before temperatures rise in the latter half of the week.

MASSACHUSETTS — A surprise snowfall will give way to warmer temperatures in the back end of the week.

That's according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, which projects 1-2 inches of snow on Wednesday to split a milder start to the week with warmer highs heading into the weekend.

There's a 60 percent chance of snow in the Boston area between 4 and 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to the NWS. That dusting will come with milder winds of 6 mph, versus the 37 mph gusts that bore down on the area on Tuesday.

The good news: that'll about do it for the icky weather for the rest of the (work) week. Thursday and Friday are expected to be sunny, with highs in the low 50s.

The bad news: Don't expect the sun to hang around for the weekend. The NWS's forecast calls for a rainy Saturday, with highs in the mid-50s, and a dank and chilly Sunday.
