Massachusetts Company Recalls Hummus Sold In 23 States

Cedar's Mediterranean Foods said the hummus may have included pine nuts, which were not listed on the ingredients on the product's packaging

HAVERHILL, MA — The U.S. Food & Drug Administration and Cedar's Mediterranean Foods issued a recall for hummus sold in Massachusetts and 22 other states.

The Haverhill-based company said some shipments of its "Organic Mediterranean Hommus" may include pine nuts which were not listed on the product's packaging. In addition to Massachusetts, the hummus included in the Cedar's recall was sold in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, and Wisconsin.

The recalled hummus is labeled with "UPC Code: 044115403028," as well as a sell-by date of "DEC 12, 2021 (32I21)." Both the batch code and sell-by date information can be found printed on the lid of the container.

The Food & Drug Administration also issued a warning that people with an allergy or severe sensitivity to tree nuts "run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products."
