MASSACHUSETTS — After a taste of summer, spring will return to Massachusetts this week.

Temperatures across the state will hover near 80 on Monday before a cooldown that will bottom out on Thursday. Most parts of the state will be in the 65-degree range that day, with cooler temperatures on the Cape and out on the islands, according to the National Weather Service.

New England recorded its first 90+ degree day of 2024 last Monday when the thermometer hit 93 in the Hartford area. Boston hit 89, Worcester 86 and Providence 85, according to the weather service.

But relatively dry weather and sun will buoy those cooler temperatures. As of Monday, forecasters were predicting rain only from Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

"Though dry weather should generally prevail, there are better chances for rains to develop on Wednesday night into Thursday. Mostly sunny and dry weather conditions for the weekend into early next week, with a warming trend," the National Weather Service said Tuesday morning.
