Arlington, MA – August 26, 2024** – Get ready, Beatles fans! If you’ve ever imagined the Fab Four venturing into the cosmos, then *Beasties: A Sci-Fi Rock Opera* is the show you've been waiting for. This electrifying production, premiering October 10 and 11 at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, brings together an all-star cast to tell a story of music, mayhem, and a mission to save the Earth.
Written and produced by Boston’s own Gary Sohmers, *Beasties* is more than just a rock opera—it's an immersive, sci-fi graphic novel brought to life on stage. With 18 original songs, this spectacle spins the tale of an epic alien encounter at a Central Park concert where a rock band must rally humanity to fend off climate destruction and political corruption. Think of it as if Sgt. Pepper’s band had to save the world from itself!
Sohmers, known for his pop culture expertise from 13 seasons on PBS's *Antiques Roadshow*, has teamed up with music maestro Bill Holloman to bring this interstellar adventure to life. The cast is a who’s who of Boston music legends, including the explosive Barrence Whitfield as the lead singer "Voice" and Mach Bell, who once fronted the Joe Perry Project. Together with the rest of the cast—Liz Proteau, Jerry Bisantz, Cliff Goodwin, and Holloman’s own son, Bill Jr.—these performers are ready to rock the stage and your world.

Set in the heart of New York City’s Central Park, the story follows "Voice," the charismatic lead singer, and "Grā," a retired performer who’s just landed the gig of a lifetime as the band’s stage manager. But when Grā gets inhabited by an alien named Impulse, and a shady politician tries to hijack the concert, chaos ensues. The band, led by Voice and Grā, must awaken their inner "Beasties" and unite the crowd in a fight to save the planet.
Gary Sohmers describes *Beasties* as "a live, immersive, sci-fi graphic novel," combining visual storytelling with a rockin' musical experience. "It’s an epic adventure that will have the whole audience singing along. We hope it will be an experience you won’t soon forget," he says.
